Maui or bust!

Not much to say for the first day of our trip. It was mainly for travelling and getting settled in. We grabbed some supplies at Costco, and I picked up some snorkling gear for Mary anne and I. We then headed to the timeshare that my cousin has. We are staying in the small town of Kihei. The timeshare is on top floor (6th) of a condo complex, and we've got a great view of the water.

We took a drive southwards, so we could pick up some reef shoes for me and Mary Anne (wise move!). Then we decided to check out a highly rated scuba diving area called the fishbowl. This is on the southern tip of Maui. To get to it, you have to take the main road out of Kihei south until the pavement ends. Then you drive on a trail through lava fields to get there. Luckily I rented an SUV!

After that, we headed back because we are waking up early to go suba diving!

It's funny how easy it is to wake up at 5am when you have such a fun activity planned. We had breakfast at the Kihei Caffe where we met our dive master. Her name was Kerry. We got all the paperwork done, and drove down to the beach where we had our orientation and threw on our gear. We took two trips out. The first dive was 35 minutes. It was actually pretty painful because I couldn't equalize my ears properly.

On the second dive, we went farther out, and we saw a gang of 4 turtles and another baby turtle. We got up close and personal!

After that, we had a traditional plate lunch and we are taking a breather before hitting the pineabpple fields. For dinner, we are going to a place called Buzz's Wharf, which is supposed to have the best Mango Creme Brulee this side of the hemisphere. I'll report back and let ya know!
